Lineage 2 chronicles: how C4, Interlude, High Five and Essence differ
A short guide to Lineage 2 chronicles for choosing a server: what each added, who it suits and what people play most today.
A chronicle is a major game update. Private servers run on different chronicles, and the chronicle defines almost everything: classes, zones, items and balance.
C4 and Interlude
The classics a whole generation grew up on. Two professions per class, clear balance, Olympiad and sieges. Interlude is still the most popular chronicle for private servers. Interlude+ adds items and mechanics from later chronicles.
Gracia, Freya and High Five
Third professions, new races and zones, Kamael. High Five is considered the most complete chronicle of that era: lots of content and stable balance.
Goddess of Destruction and Main
Class awakening, new skill branches and a different pace. For those who want modern Lineage 2 with lots of content.
Classic and Essence
Classic tries to bring back the old Lineage 2 atmosphere on a new engine: slow leveling, old classes. Essence is the fast version with simplified leveling and auto-hunting.
