What open beta and start bonuses mean on Lineage 2 servers
Why servers run an open beta before launch, what start bonuses usually include and how not to miss either.
Open beta (OBT)
A few days before the official opening many servers run an open beta: anyone can join, create a character and look at the server from the inside. Progress is usually wiped before the start, but it is the best way to see whether a server is worth your time.
On L2Signal, servers with an open beta have a blue “OBT” tag, and the beta date is shown on the server page.
Start bonus
A start bonus is a gift from the server to those who join in the first days: premium account, starter pack, boosted rates for a week. It helps the server gather players at launch. Servers with a bonus have a 🎁 icon.
How not to miss them
On a server page, press “Add to calendar” or “Remind me in Telegram” to get a notification an hour before the opening. All openings of the month are in the calendar.
